Tribal body modification...
Nuba=Women would have certain parts of their body at different ages scarred to reflect roles, sexual desires and overcoming sections of life.
Shilluk=Done in Egypt in a tribe near the Nile, create 'implant looking' scars using fish hooks to portray strong identity, prevent kidnap to other tribes.
DR Congo=Repeated cutting to the face and to cutting other body parts like chest to create eyes etc... Body is used as a book to write life story and hold memory, used to also differentiate between other tribe members. Many Congolese tribes only scar women as they are seen strong enough to suffer the pain and hold the power of Gods.
Yoruba=In this tribe it is chosen to have scaring done mainly on the face as an external portrayal of internal reflection, aesthetic pride, alliance to God of Iron, Ogun.
Omo Valley=Scars of straight lines are added to stomach every time they kill someone from another tribe as a permanent badge of honour. Scaring is also done on both genders in certain areas of the body to heighten sexuality.

Tribal Piercings...
Makonde=Top lip is pierced and stretched with plugs and plates, which creates a duck look and often end up having bottom lip stretched too as a sign of age or more power. Ears are also pierced, plugged and stretched as another aesthetic way to portray themselves.

Tribal Skull Binding...
Mangnetu=This process is also known as Lipombo. Babies heads are bound as their skulls are still soft and can be easily moulded. It is seen as very royal looking, signs of beauty, knowledge all for the upper classes within tribes similar to Elizabethan era. Elaborate hairstyles are created to exaggerate the look.

Tribal wax Hair...
Himba=Hair is waxed with red clay to create encased dreads as a sign of beauty and also protects hair from hot sun. The body is also often covered in the same materials.

Asian Nose Plugs...
Apastani=Nose plugs were given to individuals to prevent kidnapping and to prove they belonged to others and cannot be taken.

Asian Neck Rings...
Kayan=Originally done in Burma/Thailand where women and young girls had neck rings on and kept in a 'zoo' as an attraction for tourists but was also a way of keeping them safe, fed as they would have an awful life as young individuals. Seen as a form of swan life elegance, femininity, can cause many physical problems as growing child.

Asian Teeth Modification...
Japan=Teeth were blackened in brothels and for prostitutes using iron fillings/acid/tea/vinegar/rice wine. Only Empress power can reverse the modification. It was only temporary and can also protect the enamel on the teeth.
Vietram=As a coming of age teeth were blackened as an 'ideal' opposite to western views on dentistry.
Indonesia=Teeth were chiselled to prevent joining the spirit world. Good signs were those of lust, greed, anger and jealousy whilst beauty and being natural were bad omens.

Foot Binding...
China=Feet were bound when children as their feet were more soft/flexible/mould-able using lotus shoes as smaller feet were sign of beauty and femininity.
